“Yoga is a philosophy of balance. When you expose yourself to yoga, you learn how to be simple in aspect of your lifestyle and being. When there is simplicity there is relaxation, where there is complication there is tension. Yoga is a way of life. It doesn’t matter what nationality, religion, social or political creeds a person follows. Yoga is concerned with man’s personal life and how he can improve it.” – Swami Satyananda Saraswati
The word yoga comes from the sanskrit root yuj which means to join or unite. In order to be well and happy we need to take care of and unite all the different parts of our personality; the physical body, the emotions and thoughts, the actions and reactions, the behavior, our psyche and our soul. We need to join the inner with the outer; ourselves as individuals with other people and the environment in order to create a wholeness. Yoga is the science and the path to unite the different parts and aspects of life in order to live harmoniously and balanced. The science of yoga includes; practices, philosophical concepts, psychological theories and spiritual wisdom; which together provides the tools to integrate yoga in daily life and the ability to live yoga.
